MINING

Our client in the mining sector is looking for a  Geologist with brilliant research and analytical skills. The successful candidate should be technical and scientific expertise with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

Diploma in Geology or equivalent

A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in exploration and mining environment (preferably on Great Dyke of Zimbabwe Geology).

Resource Modelling and Estimation experience with emphasis on PGMs an added advantage.

Expertise in the use of geological modelling and geological data/information management software (preferably Datamine).

Working knowledge of Safety, Health, and Environmental management systems is required.

Plan geology projects (e.g. platinum mining, water pipe construction) and field sampling events

Survey sites and create logs (e.g. borehole) and maps using GIS

Gather and analyze geological data

Coordinate research programs

Examine the composition of samples and specimens

Measure and test fossils, rocks, soil, ores and other material with the proper instruments (e.g. X-rays)

Write reports on findings

Conduct quality control on the suitability of material (e.g. metals for construction purposes) and inspect projects

Study sites for developments, formations, hazards, and compositionInvestigate and evaluate natural resource deposits (e.g. platinum)

Consult on various geology-related issues like waste management, resource management, gas extraction techniques, and more

Ensure environmental and other regulations are met in construction and production projects
