We have been retained by our client in the microfinance sector for the recruitment of a Head of Microfinance. The purpose of the job is to play a critical role in overseeing and managing all aspects of the microfinance operations within the organization by developing and executing strategies to ensure sustainable growth, profitability, and impactful outreach in line with the organization’s mission and goals. Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

ü  Proven experience of a minimum of 5 years in senior management roles within microfinance or financial services sector.

ü  Excellent leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

ü  Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute business strategies.

ü  Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

1.     Strategic Leadership:

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive microfinance strategy aligned with the organization’s overall strategic objectives.
  • Provides visionary leadership to the microfinance team, ensuring alignment with organizational values and goals.


2.     Operational Management:

  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the microfinance, including but not limited to loan disbursement, collections, client relations, and risk management.
  • Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to ensure targets are met and performance is optimized.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.


3.     Financial Management:

  • Develops annual budgets and financial plans for the microfinance division.
  • Monitors financial performance against budgets and takes corrective actions as needed.
  • Optimizes financial sustainability and profitability while balancing social impact objectives.


4.     Team Development and Management:

  • Recruits, trains, and mentors a high-performing team.
  • Fosters a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and accountability within the microfinance department.
  • Conducts regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to staff.

 

5.     Risk Management:

  • Develops and implements risk management frameworks and policies to mitigate operational and financial risks.
  • Monitors portfolio quality and implements measures to minimize loan delinquencies and defaults.


6.     Client and Stakeholder Relations:

  • Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders including clients, regulators, investors, and partners.
  • Ensures excellent customer service and responsiveness to client needs.


7.     Impact Assessment and Reporting:

  • Monitor and evaluate the social impact of microfinance activities.
  • Prepare regular reports for management, board of directors, and stakeholders on financial performance, impact metrics, and operational effectiveness.
